“Heritage is not preserved by standing still.
It remains alive through practice. Through knowledge passed from one pair of hands to another. Through materials understood over time. Through objects created with the intention of outlasting their moment.”
– Damian Skotnicki, CEO of Carlex

From 28 August to 6 September 2026, Carlex will take part in the Abu Dhabi International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition at ADNEC Centre Abu Dhabi.

ADIHEX brings together equestrian culture, falconry, hunting traditions, craftsmanship and heritage. For Carlex, it is a natural setting. A place where tradition remains alive through discipline, skill and objects created to endure.

As the Official Weaponry Sponsor of ADIHEX 2026, Carlex will present three chapters of its collector collection: the world premiere of Carlex One of One Stallion, the Middle East debut of Safari Grande Royal and a private preview of the forthcoming Carlex One of One Viking project.

The presentation continues Carlex’s long-standing relationship with the MENA region. The craftsmanship of the atelier has already found recognition among collectors from the Middle East, leading to the opening of the permanent Carlex showroom in Dubai less than a year ago.

It has since become a recognised destination for those drawn to limited collector vehicles, individual commissions and some of the most refined and comfortable interpretations of the Mercedes-Benz G-Class.

The world premiere of Carlex One of One Stallion

The central premiere in Abu Dhabi will be the long-awaited Carlex One of One Stallion.

Created on the basis of the Mercedes-AMG G 63, One of One Stallion is inspired by Pogrom, the purebred Arabian champion from the renowned Janow Podlaski Stud.

The point of departure was not ornament, but character.

Strength held in balance. Energy governed by discipline. Presence without excess.

These qualities have been translated into the vehicle’s proportions, engraved surfaces and hand-finished details. Its sculptural roof relief forms the centre of the composition, shaped over time by the hands of Carlex craftsmen. Metal, leather and line are treated as parts of one coherent work.

Stallion will be created once. Never repeated.

The project follows the path established by Carlex One of One G-Falcon, a four-year creation that became closely associated with the brand in the Middle East and now belongs to one of the largest, private automotive collections in the world.

The Middle East debut of Safari Grande Royal

ADIHEX will also host the first presentation of Carlex Safari Grande Royal in the MENA region.

Following its world debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in July 2026, the model now enters a setting closely aligned with its character. Across the region, journeys through open landscapes, equestrian pursuits, falconry, hunting and life outdoors remain part of a living cultural tradition. These same worlds define ADIHEX, where heritage meets contemporary craftsmanship, travel and purpose-built design.

Limited to 25 vehicles worldwide, Safari Grande Royal draws on the atmosphere of classic safari lodges. Natural materials, warm earth tones and composed proportions create a private travelling interior shaped for comfort, distance and unhurried time.

In Abu Dhabi, Safari Grande Royal finds a natural place: between the landscape, the journey and the traditions that continue to give both their meaning.

Carlex One of One Viking – a first private preview

Carlex One of One Viking will be presented in project form, offering a rare insight into the earliest chapter of a new One of One creation.

Such works cannot be placed within a conventional production calendar. Their development may take several years, as drawings, materials, sculptural reliefs and individual details gradually become one composition.

Viking is conceived as a single collector’s ensemble: one handcrafted automobile accompanied by four bespoke sporting rifles created in collaboration with the renowned Swedish gunmaker VO Vapen.

Together, they will form one indivisible collection.

At ADIHEX, guests will be invited to discover the project before its physical form is complete. A first encounter with an idea that will be allowed to mature at the pace required by the work.

An invitation to ADIHEX 2026

We invite you to visit us at Stand 3-050 and experience a collection where automotive craftsmanship meets functional art.

During ADIHEX 2026, we will present three exceptional premieres:

The Aurora Event

The Aurora is not a conventional car exhibition.

It is a curated concours shaped by cars, design, hospitality and the atmosphere of the Scandinavian coast. Set within one of Sweden’s most distinctive garden landscapes, it brings the automotive and maritime worlds into one considered setting.

In 2026, Vogue Scandinavia will be the official media partner. The programme also includes recognised figures from sport, music, film and design.

The result is a weekend where automotive culture is placed in a wider context.

For Icon Riviera, this setting feels natural.

Goodwood Festival of Speed 2026, where speed becomes memory

Goodwood has its own rhythm. Engines on the Hill. Conversations in the paddocks. Heritage moving through open air.

It is not a conventional motor show. It is a place where speed becomes memory.

In 2026, Goodwood Festival of Speed will turn its attention to “The Rivals – Epic Racing Duels”, a theme built around the great encounters that shaped motorsport.

Some rivalries are remembered for their result. Others for their character.

Fifty years after the Hunt – Lauda season of 1976, Goodwood returns to one of the most human stories in Formula 1. A story of courage, discipline and contrast.

The 2026 edition will also look back to Le Mans 1966, sixty years on. A moment when endurance racing became more than a race. It became part of automotive memory.

Around this history, Formula 1 machinery will once again bring its presence to Goodwood.

Carlex enters this setting from another order.

Not through rivalry. Through craft. Through material. Through time.

A Meeting at Goodwood FOS

Goodwood Festival of Speed 2026 gives this premiere its natural setting.

Safari Royal Collection: Crafted for the Modern Explorer

“I have always been drawn to places where you are close to nature, yet surrounded by the beauty of materials and a sense of calm. Spaces where everything is intentional, but nothing competes for attention. I wanted to bring that exact quality into a car,” says Damian Skotnicki, founder of Carlex Vehicles.

Safari Royal Collection by Carlex Vehicles is a strictly limited collection of 25 vehicles, where the vehicle, equipment and travel experience form one coherent system.

Conceived as a complete environment rather than a single object, the collection is based on two platforms: vehicles derived from the Mercedes-AMG G 63 and from the Mercedes-Benz G 4×4².

Each one is developed as part of a unified structure, where form, interior, materials and accessories are designed together, not added later.

This is not an accessory to travel.

It is its structure.

Source of Inspiration

The collection draws from the quiet discipline of African safari lodges, where material, light and proportion shape the experience without ever announcing themselves.

Warm earth tones, natural textures and restrained contrasts define the visual language.

Soft light, silence and balance establish its atmosphere.

Safari translates this philosophy into motion.

A Complete Travel System

Safari extends beyond driving itself.

A teak-finished roof platform carries a tent designed for four people. Director’s chairs, travel trunks and an integrated parasol are secured through a system of bespoke stainless steel mounts developed specifically for this collection.

At the rear, a folding table integrated into the luggage door and crafted from walnut transforms the vehicle into a place to pause.

Inside, the experience continues with dedicated objects: a Leica binocular set, curated travel accessories and a discreetly integrated coffee system.

Each element has been designed as part of the whole.

Nothing is added. Everything belongs.

Material as Foundation

The interior is built almost entirely from materials developed exclusively for Carlex Vehicles.

At its center lies crocodile leather, individually dyed for this collection. Its depth and texture define the character of the entire space.

It is complemented by other exotic leathers, bespoke fabrics and highly durable technical materials engineered to withstand changing conditions without compromising refinement.

Exterior elements that resemble leather are in fact constructed from advanced materials used in convertible roof systems, combining longevity with a precise visual language.

Every surface has been considered not only for how it looks, but for how it ages and responds over time.

Craftsmanship

In Safari, material meets the human hand.

Exterior components such as the ladder and bullbar are finished with hand-applied cross-stitching, introducing a tactile softness to metal surfaces.

The rear table combines walnut and aluminium in proportions associated more closely with yacht craftsmanship than automotive design.

From structural elements to the smallest functional details, each component is shaped through the same disciplined approach, where precision reveals itself over time.

The Ritual of Travel

Safari is defined as much by stillness as by movement.

The scent of natural leather, the texture of materials and the weight of carefully crafted objects create a rhythm that is felt rather than described.

The vehicle does not dictate the journey.

It gives it structure.

Moments of travel, pause and observation become part of a single, continuous experience.

Safari remains a complete and coherent vision – one that cannot be reduced to a category.

Some creations capture attention instantly. Others reveal themselves over time.

Yachting Vintage belongs to the latter.

It was shaped by a fascination with the world of sailing. Its calm, its discipline, its precision. This logic is present throughout the entire vehicle.

At first glance, the composition appears simple. Silver below. Black above. The lower body is finished in a proprietary, hand-brushed lacquer. Each surface is crafted by hand.
The effect changes with the light. In warm sunlight, subtle golden tones emerge. In cooler conditions, the form becomes more restrained and precise.

The upper body, finished in satin black, brings balance. It defines proportion and introduces calm.

The interior is built around the experience of materials. Nappa leather provides softness and a natural feel. Alcantara quiets the space. Walnut wood adds warmth and continuity. Metal elements underline precision.

Details matter.

Sailing cleats in the luggage area serve a real function. The compass rose, present in the floor and headliner, sets direction.

Yachting Vintage will be produced in a strictly limited series of 7 vehicles worldwide.

Each car is individually numbered. Each comes with a certificate of authenticity. Each is recorded in the internal Carlex registry.

Through the serial number, the owner gains access to a dedicated archive of their specific vehicle, a chronicle of its creation, images, details, process.

Yachting Vintage is created with time in mind. For collectors who seek rarity and lasting value.

Carlex Icons: A Considered Interpretation of the G-Class

When we began working on the Icons collection, we had no intention of changing the G-Class. Its form is too coherent, too recognisable and too deeply rooted to warrant improvement. What interested us was something else: how the G-Class could resonate in a different context — one focused on material, proportion and clarity rather than effect.
This is a project that could appear as naturally at Paris Fashion Week as it could at the Villa d’Este Concours d’Elegance. It connects design, craftsmanship and automotive heritage, presenting the car not as a customised object but as a carefully constructed composition.

A Maison-Like Way of Working

At Carlex, we have long worked more like a traditional maison than a conventional automotive studio. Each project is treated as an individual composition with its own narrative, rhythm and responsibility for every detail.
With Icons, we wanted to bring this philosophy to its most refined expression. The starting point remained the Mercedes W465 G63 AMG with its V8 bi-turbo engine. We did not alter its structure. We treated it as an architectural base — a foundation for a project built on proportion, texture and a consistent design language.

Interior as a Unified Composition

The interior of Icons was designed from scratch. The exotic leathers were developed specifically for this collection; their colour, density and texture were tuned through countless iterations.

The seats are entirely new forms, created exclusively for Icons. Their design language is echoed throughout the cabin — from the centre console and armrest to the pillars, headliner and steering wheel.

The hand-painted pinstriping on the door panels is not decoration. It is a precise, controlled gesture that clarifies the design line and makes the presence of the human hand tangible.
In passenger versions, the walnut-wood boot floor extends the interior naturally. It introduces a calm, organic material quality — something close to nature, contributing to the overall sense of harmony within the cabin.

Exterior Guided by Proportion

When working on the exterior, we deliberately removed anything unnecessary. In an industry full of exaggerated forms, we chose discipline.
The carbon-fibre elements are painted rather than shown in their raw weave, allowing the forms to remain clean and integrated. Their geometry references design approaches from the 1950s, when proportion mattered more than visual aggression.

https://carlexdesign.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/WhatsApp-Video-2026-02-13-at-11.52.52.mp4

Pinstriping appears on the roof and aluminium side details, creating continuity between exterior and interior. Steel components — including pipes and bumper details — were refined with full attention to surface quality and precision. The paintwork is clearly divided, with a chromed line defining the separation and structuring the entire composition.

Accessories as Part of the Same World

Alongside Icons, we developed a set of accessories in collaboration with Malton & Kielman: a Weekender bag, bespoke shoes and leather cases.
All are crafted from the same exotic leathers as the interior and to the same standard of workmanship. These are not add-ons. They are an extension of the project — elements belonging to the same world. You can read more about our collaboration here.

Price as a Result of the Process

The price of Icons is 695,000 euros. It is not a gesture. It is a consequence. It reflects the materials developed exclusively for the collection, the pace of work that allows full control over quality and the limited number of vehicles we can produce.

Conclusion

When creating Icons, we did not aim to redesign the G-Class. We wanted to open a new space for it — one built on material, proportion and thoughtful design logic.
The goal was not to make a “more luxurious” car.
The goal was to make a more considered one.
A car that can exist both within the world of fashion and among automotive classics.
A car that has no need to shout.
A car that makes sense.

I. The Silence Before the Hammer Strikes

True quality is quiet. It needs no loud billboards nor seasonal trends. It speaks for itself—through the scent of tanned leather, the cool touch of a perfectly polished buckle, the sound of a needle piercing the hide in the rhythm of a century-old tradition.
In times of constant informational noise, we return to the silence of the workshop.

It was in that very silence, interrupted only by the rhythmic tapping of tools, that a collaboration was born—one that is not a business arrangement but a meeting of sensitivities. Two worlds that, at first glance, share nothing—scale, purpose, technology—yet are united by one thing: an almost obsessive insistence that material must become something more than just raw matter.

II. 1883: The Foundation of a Legend

The story reaches back to a time when the automobile was still only an engineer’s dream.
In 1883, on Warsaw’s Chmielna Street, Jan Kielman founded a workshop that would become a bastion of Polish craftsmanship.

For more than a century, the Kielman manufacture survived wars, political upheavals, and industrial revolutions. How? Through uncompromising principles. As the world accelerated toward mass production and ready-made solutions, Kielman slowed down. Where others saw a shoe size, they saw a person—with their anatomy, gait, and story.

Their workshop is a sanctuary of bespoke. Every pair of shoes is built on a wooden last carved individually to the client’s foot. The process takes weeks. It is alchemy—transforming calf leather into the wearer’s second skin. Statesmen, aristocrats, and artists such as Jan Kiepura or Charles de Gaulle wore their shoes for decades. That heritage is a responsibility—and proof that, even in a duel with the machine, the human hand still triumphs in its sensitivity.

III. Evolution: Malton Kielman

From this historic trunk grew a new branch—Malton Kielman. A natural evolution of mastery.
If classic Kielman protects our step, Malton Kielman accompanies us on our journey.

Specializing in bags and accessories, the manufacture transplanted shoemaking rigor into the world of luxury leather goods. It is not about stitching two pieces of leather together. It is about the architecture of an object. This is why they spend hours testing how a strap rests on a client’s shoulder in a blazer versus a coat, or whether a document pocket can be accessed with one natural movement—without looking.

Malton Kielman is leather engineering—understanding how exotic alligator behaves at a fold, how thick a thread must be to support weight while still looking like jewelry. Before the first bag is made, the leather does not go on a table—it goes into a master’s hands. The hand decides whether the material will endure years of travel or serve only as a prototype. This level of precision does not tolerate “good enough.”

IV. Carlex: The Automotive Counterpart

Meanwhile, in Czechowice-Dziedzice, Carlex Design was writing its own chapter in the book of craftsmanship.
Though our medium differs—steel, composites, hundreds of horsepower—our approach mirrors the philosophy from Chmielna.

In automotive, we are what Kielman is to shoemaking: a house of craftsmanship that creates not yearly collections, but pieces meant to last for decades. We are not interested in seriality. We seek that moment when the owner grips the steering wheel and feels it was made solely for their hands. Our atelier is not a factory. It is a tailoring workshop where a “suit” is sewn onto a car’s body.

Just like shoemaking masters, we start from a blank page and a conversation. We choose leather textures first from imagination and intent, only then from the catalogue. We engrave metal, patinate surfaces, sculpt seats—all so that a car stops being a machine and becomes a personal artefact. We understand material consistency—projects like the G-Falcon or G-Viking take months of matching patinated leather, engraved metals, and wood textures so the whole forms a single narrative instead of a collection of luxurious elements.

V. The Logic of Symbiosis

Why Carlex and Kielman?
Because true craftsmanship recognizes itself instantly.

The owners of both houses had known each other for years—with a respect reserved only for those who understand the weight of handmade work. Not for the industry, not for fashion, but for the very act of creation. Our collaboration did not begin at a negotiation table, but in a space where lasting things emerge: in a conversation about materials, the scent of leather, the weight of a tool in the hand.

We realized that industry divisions are an illusion. There is no real line between automotive, leathercraft, or fashion. There is only the difference between craftsmanship and mass production—and we choose the former without hesitation.

Carlex creates cars for collectors—those who surround themselves with objects bearing a soul. A client who appreciates a hand-formed dashboard in their Carlex Vintage G-Class will not place a random suitcase in the trunk. They need coherence. The answer was obvious: Kielman. Thus, the Carlex × Malton Kielman symbiosis emerged—not as a business project but as a logical necessity.
We share a common enemy: mediocrity. We share a common value: time devoted to material. We share a common DNA of luxury: humility before craft.

VI. The Total Collection: Luxury Without Boundaries

The result of this alliance is what we call a total collection: the erasure of boundaries between what you drive and what you carry.

Imagine stepping out of your car. Your hand leaves a steering wheel wrapped in patinated alligator leather in deep cognac. You reach for your travel bag—and magic happens: you feel no difference. The bag is crafted from the same batch of exotic leather. The same texture, the same scent, the same immaculate stitch executed with the same thread and technique. Your bespoke Kielman shoes complete the picture.

This is not “matching accessories.” It is the creation of a unified ecosystem.
A reality where every object you touch speaks the same language of mastery.

VII. The Boutique of Ultra-Craft: A New Definition of Purchasing

Our vision extends beyond products. Within Carlex Maison, we are creating a boutique concept that resembles a private atelier more than a showroom. A return to the origins of luxury retail, where the transaction is secondary to the relationship and the act of creation.

In our spaces, clients will not simply “configure a car.” They will compose a lifestyle. A place where you can simultaneously design a car interior, order bespoke shoes through the legendary Kielman ritual, and choose leather goods that become integral parts of your vehicle.

These encounters resemble sessions with a master tailor rather than a typical automotive appointment. We cannot imagine a client leaving with a bag and a car that know each other only from a brochure. They must know each other from the same drawing table.

Carlex × Malton Kielman is a manifesto against temporariness.

By merging more than a century of Warsaw shoemaking with our bold, modern vision of collectible automotive design, we create objects that defy time.
We do not build gadgets. We create legacy—objects that, like Kielman shoes from the 1920s, can be passed down through generations, carrying the story of passion, precision, and the hands that shaped them.
Made Once. The Original. Always.

CHAPTER III: THE PHILOSOPHY OF THE MANIFESTO

Summit Philosophy

“The Summit of Everything that can be made by hand.” It is not a marketing slogan. It is the criterion through which we filter every decision, every material and every gesture. We do not aspire to be a large company. We aspire to be a deep one: conscious, integrated, built on trust.
In the industrial world, perfection means repeatability. In the world of craftsmanship, perfection means authenticity. Industry measures seconds and tolerances. We measure months and impressions.
With time, we understood that the greatest enemy of quality is not a lack of skill, but a lack of time. For this reason, we chose the more difficult path: limitation of scale, limitation of the number of projects, and conscious unavailability.
Unavailability is not a marketing strategy. It is the infrastructure of quality.
If an atelier works only under the pressure of efficiency, no one has time to think, and craftsmanship without thought ceases to be craftsmanship.
We are the House of Automotive Craftsmanship. Our goal is not efficiency. Our goal is the truth of the material and the substance of the project. We do not eliminate the human factor. We place it at the centre of the universe.
Where industry applies paint by robot, we choose a natural-bristle brush and proprietary lacquers, developed according to our own formulas and requiring the precision of the human hand, including finishes enriched with diamond dust.
Where mass production looks for acceleration, we defend concentration. Not because slowness is a virtue in itself, but because only time allows a material to reveal its proper form.
We do not want to be a large company. We want to be an excellent one.

Whispered Luxury

Where industry moulds plastic, we engrave metal under a microscope and arrange alligator scales like marquetry.
True luxury does not shout. It whispers. Thus our communication is not advertising, but manifesto. Made Once. The Original. Always. For Those Who Know. These are not promises. They are declarations.
Others offer personalization within a production system: threads, wheels, paint. Carlex offers creation: a process whose only limit is the imagination and the hand of the master.
Exotic leathers, patina, engraving, solid wood, metal: these are not optional extras. They are an alphabet.
The Carlex style stands against fashion: Old Money, Vintage, Contemporary Classic. We design for those who do not want to be the newest. They want to be the last.
The newest fades with a trend. The last is definitive.

Hand-carving of the steering wheel in Carlex Atelier.

The Pursuit of Legend

At Carlex we do not work until it is fine. We work until it is ready.
Each stage ends with a name, and with pride, or lack of approval. Visible and invisible quality follow one law: the underside of the glovebox matters as much as the veneer on the dashboard.
We build not products. We build legend. This is the purpose of our work. Not to chase momentary impressions, but to create things that will remain, things that will be passed on.

CHAPTER IV: THE DIALOGUE OF MASTERS

Shared Language of Mastery

True mastery is recognised by whom it speaks with.
In the world of craftsmanship, there is an invisible thread connecting the best, regardless of discipline. A master shoemaker in Warsaw, a watchmaker in Geneva, a gunsmith, an upholsterer, a calligrapher or a jeweller quickly find a common language, even if they have never met before. That language is made of patience, respect for material and obsession with detail.

Our collaboration with the Malton Kielman atelier is not a marketing partnership. It is a meeting at the summit, proof that the philosophy of “The Summit of Everything” is universal. Malton Kielman, inheriting tradition since 1883, creates bespoke bags and accessories from exotic leathers. Every element that can be made by hand, is.

The beginnings of a legendary collaboration – Carlex & Malton Kielman

Meeting at the Summit

When automotive craft meets fashion craft, it becomes clear that the problems and the goals are identical.
We align alligator scales on the curvature of a dashboard. They align them on the corner of a bag. We study how leather behaves on a seat. They study the tension in a handle. The tools are the same: knife, awl, needle, thread.

Our joint project, a travel bag made from the same yellow alligator leather with a brown trim as the car’s seats, is not an accessory set. It is tangible proof of shared ethos. The dialogue is broader. Pagani, collaborating with Hermès, turned to vegetable-tanned leathers. Ferrari and Poltrona Frau cultivate the sellatura ritual, the hand saddling of the dashboard.

A House of Craft

A House of Craft does not mean that everything is done by one’s own hands alone. A House of Craft means gathering the best people.
It is not about logos. It is about access to craft memory and ritual.
At Carlex, we engage in this dialogue daily with leatherworkers, carpenters, lacquer artists, jewellers, engravers and masters of patina. The shared language always sounds the same: nothing can be almost right. Everything must be exactly so.
This is why we build a House of Craft, a space where disciplines meet in one project. In one interior, leather, metal, wood, engraving, patina and jewellery can coexist. A car then ceases to be a product and begins to become an object of applied art.
A car is not merely a mode of transport. It is the platform where arts converge.

CHAPTER V: THE ETHOS OF THE INVISIBLE

Invisible Standards

True craftsmanship is recognised not by what is seen, but by what no one, except the maker, was ever meant to see. This is the foundation of the Carlex Maison ethos and the rule of our Constitution of Quality: visible and invisible quality.
In mass luxury production, only what is visible is perfected. Under the upholstery compromises begin. At Carlex, compromise does not exist.

Not because it would not look right, but because the invisible detail influences the visible experience: the sound of a glovebox closing, the scent of the cabin, the feel of the underside of an armrest.
The standard new car smell is often the odour of adhesives and plastics. The scent of a Carlex interior is leather, wax and natural oils. It is the scent of truth.

The Discipline of the Unseen

In our workshops, we upholster elements the owner will likely never see: the bottoms of compartments, the inner sides of panels, the structures of seats.
We use the same grade of material beneath the surface as on the surface. The stitch on the underside of the armrest is as straight as the one on the seat. A construction detail is treated with the same seriousness as a decorative one.

Legend speaks of Hermès masters who train for years to perfect an internal stitch immediately hidden beneath lining. No one will see it, but it sets everything else. This ethos guides Carlex craftsmen. Every master is responsible for the visual order of their workshop, as a conductor is responsible for the order of a score. Order in space becomes order in detail.
Hidden discipline is what gives one the right to visible splendour.

The Integrity of Creation

We therefore design details as micro-engineering: anticipating expansion, testing in salt fog and synthetic sweat before anything reaches a car. When Bentley performs book-matched veneer, it shows visible craftsmanship. When it references kintsugi, it shows philosophical craftsmanship. We combine both: the visible perfection of aligned scales and the hidden perfection of assembly no one will ever see.
Luxury is not what you show others. Luxury is the knowledge of the integrity of your creation.
A Carlex client feels the cool metal and the alligator texture on the steering wheel, but the deeper satisfaction comes from knowing that the same standard applies beneath the surface, the same hand, the same conscience.
We do not do this to impress. We do it because it is the only way we know.
Made Once. The Original. Always.

Conclusion

Work done by hand can never, by its very nature, become mass. Not because exclusivity is the goal. But because time and attention are limited.
Things made by hand are created for the few because only a few things can be made in such a way, with such an investment of time, and with such a refusal of compromise.
Perhaps technologies will change one day. Perhaps powertrains will change. Perhaps materials will change. Perhaps motoring itself will change.

Carlex Maison is the summit of what can be made by hand — a world where exotic materials, rare techniques, and master-level artistry define a new standard of automotive luxury. This manifesto reveals the philosophy behind Carlex’s uncompromising approach: the final material, the meaning of patina, the dialogue of masters, and the invisible craft that elevates a vehicle into a legacy.

INTRODUCTION: The Summit

The Two Realms

There are two orders in the world of motoring. One measures time in seconds, the other in months. One pursues repeatability, the other pursues singularity.

The first creates products. The second creates objects meant to remain.

Carlex belongs to the latter world.

The company was not born in an analyst’s office or over a spreadsheet. It was born at the drawing table, in the scent of leather, in the noise of tools, and in the silence of the workshop where the most important decisions are made. From the beginning, it stood closer to a craftsman’s atelier than to a factory.

With time, it became clear that we were not building cars alone. We were building a place where different disciplines of craftsmanship could meet: leather, metal, wood, jewellery, engraving, patina, calligraphy. For us, the car became a platform on which all of these arts could come together within a single object.

That is why Carlex is not merely an automotive company. It is a house of craftsmanship that happens to create cars.

CHAPTER I: THE FINAL MATERIAL

Hierarchy of Materials

In the world of absolute luxury, there is a hierarchy defined not by fashion, but by rarity, provenance and the difficulty of obtaining the material. The most expensive materials are not the most important simply because they are expensive. They matter because they are demanding, exacting, and unforgiving of mistakes.
Bovine leather is the standard of the automotive world. The finest tanneries select it with immense precision, and it is a noble material. For craftsmanship, however, it is only the point of departure.
It is only exotic skins, such as alligator, crocodile, ostrich or stingray, that demand true discipline from the craftsman. Each has its own structure, its own rhythm and its own limitations. They cannot be treated like ordinary upholstery material. They must be composed as stone is composed in architecture, or veneer in marquetry.
Working with such materials is not about extravagance. It is about the truth of the material and respect for its nature.
Rarity alone has no value if it is not matched by the ability to apply the material in the right way. The highest art is not in acquiring the rarest skin. The highest art lies in knowing where to use it, and where not to use it.
Material is never decoration. Material is the architecture of the interior.

Exotic Leathers as Foundations

Alongside these reptiles come ostrich and stingray. Ostrich leather is soft and strong at the same time, characterised by its pearly quill bumps that give it sculptural depth. Stingray (shagreen) is almost mineral, thousands of glassy beads that behave like obsidian dusted with light. It was no coincidence that samurai sword handles were wrapped in it: it offered grip and endurance. At Carlex Maison these materials are not accents. They are foundations. They cover the centre console, dashboard, door panels and even the steering wheel.

The material stops being decoration and becomes the architecture of the interior. Owning the world’s most expensive leather is not an art. Using it is. Unlike bovine leather, an alligator’s scales have a DNA, a rhythm that must be “composed”. A Carlex craftsman aligns the pattern so it flows across curves, meeting scale-to-scale on seams. This is closer to Renaissance marquetry than traditional upholstery. A millimetre of misalignment destroys a panel.

Head of Design and first fittings of precious Himalayan leather.

The Rigor of the Process

The definition of “The Summit of Everything” does not lie in the price of the material but in the rigor of the process: hand-selection, cutting, conditioning, gluing, stitching, controlling. Hundreds of hours turn leather into an artefact. This is our standard. Market examples illustrate the challenge but are never our goal. Bentley Mulliner can book-match veneer like a mirror; Pagani treats carbon fibre like haute couture fabric; Rolls-Royce paints a coachline with a single brushstroke.

At Carlex we go our own way: integrating silver, gold, and copper; applying hand engraving; and — when the project calls for it — combining exotic leather with solid wood and jewellery-grade metalwork. Material obeys the vision of the craftsman, not the limitations of the process. This is the meaning of the “final material” — it is not about rarity, but about whether we can reveal its truth.

CHAPTER II: PATINA AS THE RECORD OF LIFE

The Value of Time

In an age of immediacy, the greatest luxury is time. Time cannot be bought, only invested. Patination is precisely that: an investment of time and attention that gives a material a soul before history begins to write itself through use. Our Constitution states: “The cars we create are made to last. To be cared for, respected, and passed on. From generation to generation. As symbols.” Patina fits this thinking, it is not ageing, but ennobling.

The roots of patination lead back to leathercraft traditions and the legendary Olga Berluti, who in the 1980s transformed classic finishing into an artistic ritual of layers. Her Venezia leather became a canvas, and colours Tobacco, Feuille d’Automne, Caviar, became poetry in pigment. Patination is not painting. It is the alchemy of layers: cleansing, opening pores, massaging oils and pigments, building translucent depth, polishing to a glassy shine.

The Craft of Layers

Tools?
Brushes, sponges, cloths, hands. Above all, hands and patience. One wrong movement can undo days of work. At Carlex Design, the scale is far larger than in shoemaking, we work on the three-dimensional architecture of an entire cabin. In projects like the G-Falcon One of One, a tribute to the art of falconry, patinating the interior took almost two months, whereas standard upholstery takes only a few days.
The difference is not a costly whim, it is the measure of luxury understood as time devoted to contemplation and to the hand-made decision behind every layer. Patina is like “Fordite”, the Detroit agate formed by decades of accumulated paint layers. Except here the beauty is not accidental, it is intentional. Layer after layer we build depth that cannot be accelerated.

Patina as Identity

In automotive design, patination often stands as a counterpoint to synthetic, “perfect” finishes. A well-executed patina does not pretend to be worn, it grants maturity from day one. This is why connoisseurs commission interiors that arrive already carrying character, an “old soul” in a new car.

Market examples reinforce this trend. In the restomod world, ECD Auto Design and Eagle E-Types celebrate the natural charm of hand-dyed leathers.
Ferrari, when restoring classics, treats patina as a dialogue between past and present. We go further: we create patina as a craftsman’s signature. The G-Viking, our One of One project, created with VO Vapen, a Swedish gunmaking atelier, combines patina with engraving and metal, honouring Nordic techniques. Each example is as unique as a fingerprint because there are no identical strokes, no identical hands. Patination escapes automation. Machines cannot measure it and precisely for this reason, at Carlex, it is a foundation.

Beyond performance, toward material value

In motoring, the conversation often revolves around power, performance and technology. For years, we have chosen to look at cars somewhat differently. More as a jeweller looks at an object in the making than as an engineer looks at a machine. Because at a certain point, it ceases to be only about the car and begins to be about detail, material and the work of human hands.
In luxury, true value is rarely defined by complexity alone. It is defined by the quality of the material, the precision of its use and the time required to shape it properly.

Carlex G-Falcon One of One pure silver and gold door locks.

The Jeweller’s way of thinking

Jewellery has always begun with one principle: understanding the material. Metal, stone, wood and leather each possess their own nature. They can be cut, polished and refined, but if the craftsman does not understand the material, the result is merely an object. If he does, the result carries calm, proportion and a quality visible at once.
The same principle applies to luxury motoring. Detail cannot simply be attractive. It must be considered, durable, pleasing to the touch and capable of ageing well. A car remains a functional object, but in our work we try to treat it as a crafted piece, something that gathers character over time rather than merely grows old.

Rare materials are not decoration

When one looks at projects such as the Rolls-Royce Celestial Phantom with diamonds in the interior, Bugatti’s gold detailing or Ferrari’s personalisation programmes, one sees not only mastery of execution, but also the central role of material itself.
In both jewellery and luxury motoring, material matters. Gold, silver, diamonds, rare woods, exotic leathers and noble metals are never mere embellishment. They shape the weight of the object, its durability, its nobility and the way it matures with time. Craftsmanship and material must always move together. One without the other does not create true luxury.

From detail to automotive jewellery in architectural scale

Over time, we came to understand that jewellery in motoring does not need to reside only in small elements. It can also become a way of thinking transferred to an entirely different scale. Not in millimetres, but in metres.
That is how we began to look at the car as a form of jewellery in architectural scale. The roof ceased to be only a body panel. It became a surface that could be approached in the way a jeweller approaches metal. Hand-shaped reliefs, copper, surfaces enriched with diamond dust, textures that shift according to the light.
This kind of work cannot be done quickly, nor can it ever be repeated in exactly the same way twice. That is precisely where its meaning lies.

Carlex Vehicles Diamond Dust Technology

A jewellery workshop inside Carlex

This way of thinking led us to create a jewellery studio within Carlex, equipped with microscopes and tools for micro-machining. For a car company, that may appear unusual. For us, it was a natural consequence of our ambitions.
If one wishes to work with precious metals, stones, highly precise details and exceptionally costly materials, one needs an environment closer to a goldsmith’s atelier than to a conventional automotive workshop.
As Damian Skotnicki, CEO of Carlex, often emphasises, true luxury does not begin with decoration, but with the way a material is understood, respected and shaped by human hands. In this view, a car is not approached as a machine alone, but as a crafted object whose value is built through time, proportion and the discipline of detail.
To use his philosophy as a guiding principle: true luxury begins where rare materials, human hands and time meet.

Jeweler’s precision.

Craftsmanship, time and the meaning of luxury

That may be the clearest way to explain what luxury means to us. It is not something made quickly in order to be sold. It is something made as well as we are capable of making it, from the finest materials, with an extraordinary investment of human work.
Over the years, we have noticed one thing. People who truly love beautiful objects respond not only to rare materials, but also to labour itself. They respond to gold, silver, diamonds and unusual surfaces, but even more deeply when they realise how much time and craftsmanship have been invested in a detail.
The most powerful moment is when someone understands that a given element was not made in minutes by a machine, but shaped over dozens or even hundreds of hours by a human hand.

Where craft becomes luxury

Perhaps that is why jewellery and motoring belong together so naturally. In both, everything depends on material, light, proportion, patience and the people capable of making something exceptionally well, even when it demands an immense amount of time and work.
And perhaps this is exactly where true luxury begins. In the union of rare materials, human hands and time that cannot be accelerated.
